The sun shone, the grounds were looking lovely and the school was teaming with activity from exhibitions, displays, performances and matches for our Open Morning in June. Visitors to the school commented on the stunning artwork, and parents enjoyed having a closer look at their children’s academic work in their classrooms.
Recitals from the Guitar Ensemble,String Ensemble, Little Stream String Orchestra and Recorder Group ensured there was music throughout the school, culminating in the Performing Arts and Music Presentation in the John Leakey Hall which featured songs from Matilda and Mary Poppins.
Year 6 performed extracts from A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the Rose Garden, Nash House delighted us with their country dancing and the Year 4 Water Polo Demonstration and Year 3 Tug of War were great fun.
The Alumni v 1st Cricket and Rounders matches were played in great spirit, and it was honours even with the Alumni winning the Cricket and school the Rounders. The Alumni drinks Reception was well attended with former pupils from over the decades including one of our founder pupils who was evacuated from London on 1st September 1939. The archive exhibition featuring images and articles from 80 years of the school was much appreciated.
