Little Stream (Years 1-4)
Our School Day
Our day begins at 8.10 am with an opportunity to meet friends in the playground or visit our well-stocked library. Some children arrive a little earlier for breakfast club, available from 7.15 am.
At 8.30 am we welcome children into the classrooms. Our open-door policy means parents are always welcome, and we place a real emphasis on parental relationships.
At 8.45 am we have an assembly together in the hall, with the Headmaster joining us once a week.
After assembly lessons begin. Breaktime is a chance to have fun in our beautiful playground designed by the children themselves. We also have grassy fields to run around in, trees for camps and an astroturf for team games – football in the autumn and winter and tennis, cricket and rounders through the summer.
Lunch is served in the main dining room. Teachers sit with groups of 10 children and help them to choose a healthy, balanced diet from the delicious array of hot and cold food. Second helpings and fruit are always available, with our menus on the information board and our website.
After more play we head back into the classroom for afternoon lessons and the end of the school day at 3.45 pm. Many children stay on for a variety of clubs or our family-style after school care. We also offer tea and prep for our late stayers and the high excitement of sleeping over with friends who are boarders once they reach Year 4.
