All the Fun of the Fair
The whole school turned out on Sunday to enjoy the sunshine at the Friends of Dulwich Prep May Fair. It was a super family day out. Traditional sideshows such as crockery smash, splat the rat, coconut shy, tombola and beat the goalie certainly drew the crowds.
The judges of the Dulwich Bake Off were overwhelmed with the standard ( and number!) of entries for their baking competitions. In the signature bake ‘Batch of Cookies’ competition, the brief was to bake and present at least 6 biscuits or cookies, to be judged on taste, presentation and design. There were a whopping 28 entries. Judges had to forgo lunch in order to taste every entry! Prizes were awarded in three categories: Nash House and Year 1; Little Stream (Years 2-4) and Upper School. For the Showstopper challenge, entrants were asked to decorate a cake with the theme ‘Under the Sea’. The 24 beautiful entries were judged on presentation and design only. Both cookies and cakes were sold off afterwards in aid of Hands of Hope and Medical Detection Dogs. A fabulous raffle in aid of the two charities swelled the coffers further.
Performances from our very own Friends of Dulwich parent Choir, Rock School and not forgetting the fabulous country dancing performed by our Reception children all added to the occasion.
The Lego competition was very well supported with entries in both categories ‘Lego Things that Go’ and ‘Lego Choose your Own Adventure,’ which certainly showcased the ingenuity and imagination of our children.
There was a wonderful array of food and drink on offer including a super BBQ provided by the Dulwich kitchen, who ensured no-one went hungry. A huge thanks to the army of volunteers who made the day such a success.
