Year 7 outdoor adventure

Year 7 have started the term with an exciting outdoor adventure, walking 7 miles along the High Weald Landscape Trail to Lordship Wood, where they camped overnight.

They learnt how to build survival shelters, fire-lighting, basic knife skills, signal location and even how to prepare a rabbit to eat. They then split into teams to take part in a ‘Skills Challenge’ where they put their new found skills to the test, including lighting a fire to signal their ‘rescue’.

On their return to school they have spent the day in a team workshop, designed to encourage and develop their resilience and build on all they learnt last week. The origami paper cranes are proving rather taxing, but the message is don’t give up, you can do it!
