Upper School musicians impress at Winter Concert

A wonderful evening last night at the Winter Concert, with a repertoire that spanned all tastes from Vivaldi to AC/DC.

The School Orchestra opened the evening with a beautiful rendition of three movements of ‘The Four Seasons’ by Vivaldi, followed by Bizet’s ‘Toreador’ from Carmen from the Junior String Group. The Woodwind ensemble gave us Menken’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and Stringcredibles ‘Clocks’ by Coldplay.

Choral pieces included ‘Early One Morning’ from the Year 5 Choir, and ‘Skye Boat Song’ from the Year 6 Choir.  Junior and Senior Chamber Choir enchanted the audience with some stunning singing ‘The Beat of a Different Drum’ and ‘Shalom’ both very beautiful. Rock School changed the tempo with Bon Jovi’s ‘Living on a Prayer’ followed by ‘Highway to Hell’ by AC/DC.  Brass Band played the rousing ‘March Fanfare’ and the Jazz Band ‘Boulderdash Blues’.

Solo performances from the trombone, double bass and voice showed the range of all that is on offer in the Music Department here at Dulwich; and rounded off a wonderful evening’s entertainment.
