Scholarships and Bursaries

“You’re off to Great Places! Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So… get on your way!”

Dr Seuss

We pride ourselves on our ability to unlock the extraordinary potential of our children. We make sure every child feels incredibly well supported emotionally, physically and intellectually so they can relish learning and develop the skills and inner confidence to flourish, embrace life to the full – and scale mountains!

We encourage all our children to aim high, be the very best they can be and surpass their own expectations. All have access to our superb facilities, expert tuition and coaching, and exciting opportunities, within our supportive and aspiring community.

We are delighted to offer a scholarship programme that is open to all.

Scholarships and awards are available for entry into Years 5 and 7, for those demonstrating outstanding ability or potential in academics, art, drama, music and sport.

Awards are competitive, with assessment days taking place in January for entry in September.

We ask all successful award holders to act as role models, be responsible, show leadership, work hard and support the school. Above all they should be proud of their scholarship and everything it represents!

Applications for Scholarships 2018 are now closed.

As well as scholarships we can also award supplementary bursaries for children in Years 5 and 7. We calculate them on an individual basis depending on the parent’s financial situation. You can apply for a supplementary bursary at the same time as you apply for a scholarship.

These means-tested awards for external candidates help prepare them for either grammar school entry at 11+ (end of Year 6) or senior independent school scholarships (end of Year 8 – following a further possible award into Year 7 through the school’s own Scholarship and Bursary programme). All awards are subject to an annual review.

John Leakey Foundation Bursaries – Year 3 Entry

Our John Leakey Foundation Bursaries for entry into Year 3 ensure children from a range of backgrounds can benefit from the marvellous opportunities and support that Dulwich can provide.

If you’re interested in applying then the first step is to complete a registration form and a confidential Statement of Financial Circumstances form. We’ll then ask your children to spend a day with us and sit our standard Year 3 entry assessments. Depending on the result we may then make a provisional offer of an award, at which point we’ll contact you to arrange a home visit to discuss financial circumstances.

Please contact our Registrar for further details about scholarships and bursaries.
